Courtesy Announcement Mr. Jimmy Dean Brannock, age 67, of Yadkinville, and formerly of Sparta, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville with his two loving daughters by his side. He was born August 3, 1956, in Alleghany County to the late Earnest and Nancy Brannock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters. His three children and families have many fond memories of him to cherish. Michael Brannock and his wife, Sara, Dr. Sheena Hopkins and her husband, Justin, and Julie Davis and her husband, Tony, will miss sharing life with him. He cared deeply for his children and was proud of their life accomplishments. He enjoyed daily pictures and updates about their jobs, children, and other family adventures. Papa Dean loved his five grandchildren fiercely and spoiled them every chance he could. He was so proud of Leeann’s school achievements and was very excited about her upcoming wedding to Chase. Papa Dean loved teaching Zechariah to play Rook and enjoyed talking with him about fishing, hunting, and old coins. He loved getting updates about Riley’s school adventures, his chickens, and travels. Papa Dean loved sneaking chocolate to Conrad and always had him a cookie bag packed for the way home. Bowman, who was due on Papa Dean’s birthday, was his smallest buddy who enjoyed sitting with him eating cheese puffs. Others left to cherish his memories include his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Nelda Brannock and many nieces and nephews. Papa Dean had a special place in his heart for his dear friends, Charles and Brenda Davis, who loved him as family and visited him weekly. Papa Dean also loved spoiling his furbabies, Susie and Ellie Mae. Papa Dean treated everyone as family and was quick to forgive. He was an amazing cook, grill master, and baker who loved cooking for his family any opportunity he could. He insisted on everyone taking a drink and snack for the road. Papa Dean loved playing Rook and making others smile and laugh. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, old westerns, sci-fi films, and old comedies. Family and friends are welcome to join a graveside service on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM in The Crab Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery by his nephew Bradley Maines and Chaplain Mark Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 315, Dobson, NC 27017. The family wishes to thank all of the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Kelley Waite, who followed Dean during his palliative journey and throughout his hospice care.
