Delta Rae Peterson

Delta Rae Peterson, age 86 of Sparta, NC passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Grayson Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born April 28, 1937 in Grayson County to the late Floyd McKinley and Nannie Osborne Boyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Warren Lee Peterson; four sisters, Lucille Funk, Anna Lee Parker Combs, Helen Goodwin, Nancy Ridgeway; seven brothers, Junior Boyer, Robert Riley Boyer, Charles Wayne Boyer, John Quincy Boyer; Franklin D. Boyer, Joseph Paul Boyer, L Roe Boyer; one stepson, Bradley William Peterson. She was a member of Sparta Methodist Church where she studied Steven Minister Program, she helped prepare meals at the church on Wednesday’s, She organized and founded Alleghany Quilters Guild, Alleghany Arts & Crafts. Delta was in the Career Club, Home Extension, Chamber of Commerce and Sparta Women’s Club, and the Red Hat Club. She loved to quilt and collect antiques. She was part of the team that tried to get the Tea Pot Museum open. She is survived by one brother, Talmadge “TC” Boyer and wife Elizabeth of Sparta; one stepson, John Clark Peterson of Cambridge, MD several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Delta at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Tom Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, February 2 at the funeral home.
